What are the numbers shown in side bar along with projects? How to customize it?

This is a project on my side bar. It shows 18 which i think is the total task i have added to it. What does the 0 mean? I have completed 12 tasks and it still shows 18. Is there anyway I can make it show only the current unfinished tasks, as I keep adding more and more items to it.

The 0 indicates all the tasks in the project backlog. Currently there is no way to do what you ask, though I agree that it would make sense. There is also an open issue for this somewhere already, but I can't seem to find it.
