Once #45 is taken care of I think it's high time to roll a 2.0 release :)

Some tasks I'd like to take care of for that are:

• Updating README
• Updating any further documentation
• Look into packaging for non-Linux non-msys systems (i.e. macos & bsd)
• Just a quick @japanoise smoke test and ~1 month of dogfooding.

Will do! There's a fair amount of patching to do from my dogfooding, so I'll set a weekend aside sometime over the holidays.

Would you be open to moving this to an organisation? So as to make it a community project.  I would be able to contribute some bug fixes. However, the only operating system I have access to is Linux.

For now I'd like to leave it where it is. It's a small project and the scope is kind of intended to be "basic editor that pops up on the terminal and gives me (japanoise) emacs keybindings". If we get a lot of contributions and PRs, then moving it to the community may make sense.

I am going ahead anyway with a hard fork of this: not to change functional feature scope - I actually have practically the same vision as you about the feature set - but rather it is with the intention of getting to a stable version sooner than the current trajectory and then to evolve it into a reliable UTF8 compatible alternative to mg. I enjoy collaborating with you and given our shared vision of the feature set and your expertise, I invite you to become a co-maintainer of the fork at github.com/emil-editor/emil.
