HM-MOD-RPI-PCB not available anymore after update to HA OS 16.0

Home Assistant Yellow:

Devices raw-uart / eq3loop vanish after upgrading from 15.2 -> 16.0

HM-MOD-RPI-PCB on internal GPIO no longer detected.

No connect to RF Hardware from RaspberryMatic Addon.

I don't have the hardware to reproduce, maybe @jens-maus could see something here? Since the major change in OS 16.0 is Raspberry Pi kernel bump, I'd assume he'll see the same in his distribution as well.

Don't see this is RaspberryMatic with the same rpi kernel like HAos 16.0. In addition, I also haven't received a similar report yet that the HM-MOD-RPI-PCB is not working anymore with a Pi4. Either this is specific to HA Yellow and using the GPIOs on it with the HM-MOD-RPI-PCB or something else might not work correctly.

I have the same issue as I described here OpenCCU/OpenCCU#3145
Downgrading to HAOS 15.2 made the HM-MOD-RPI-PCB work again (on GPIO of yellow with CM4. It did no longer work with HAOS 16.0, 16.1 and 16.2.dev20250814 (the last one fixed a maybe similar problem for HMIP-RFUSB and 16.1))

Can you post the complete logs from the host, Supervisor and from the RaspberryMatic add-on from before and up to the time when "Detecting remove hardware ..." lines are shown in Supervisor log? As I don't have the hardware to test, I can only test if the devices are created correctly when the daemon starts, but that seems to work fine, and they are only removed after the daemon is stopped, so we need to figure out why it stops, which triggers the disappearance of the devices.

I can provide you all the logs you need, but not exactly sure, what/how you want them.
e.g. would you want them both from HAOS 15.2 (where the gpio-module works) and e.g. from 16.0 or 16.1 (where it does not)?
dmesg filtered through grep? rather journalctl? (which commands / options exactly?)
I know how to access the shell of the os and inside the containers.

@bilbo-b We can start with the non-working version and downloading the logs from the frontend, i.e.:

Just make sure the context of the lines displayed captures the whole startup and creation of the devices before you download them.

I think I cut correctly from beginning of last boot for host and supervisor log.
for the addon-log I left in the lines from previous boot (with HAOS 15.2) where the GPIO-module was found for comparison.

Thanks for the logs, although I can't test it, it appears that the cause of the issue is simply missing rpi-rf-mod overlay which isn't present since 16.0. I've submitted a PR with a fix, a build for testing should be available in an hour or two, so I'll appreciate if anyone could verify the fix then.
