Adding Task to GitHub Actions runner-images

Hello,

Would it be feasible to include Task in the GitHub Actions runner images?

I’d be very interested to understand what the process would involve to get it added and what the ongoing maintenance requirements might be.

Has anyone here gone through this before or have any insight they could share?

From their FAQ:

How do I request that a new tool be pre-installed on the image?

Please create an issue and get an approval from us to add this tool to the image before creating the pull request.

Looks like noone ever proposed Task to be pre-installed. Would you like to be the first one?

Looks like it adding stuff is not their current priority actions/runner-images#12464 (comment).

Good thing that installing Task is easy enough there.

FYI I ended up using "composite" job for our needs redpanda-data/connect#3547

Yes I did, I also read the code, the problem is it does not work without a token.

Use the default token. It's a one line addition and guarantee it works correctly 🙂
