Encrypting JSON files not working

Very new at using sops, but i seem to be having an issue where sops leaves the decrypted data on the top of the file after encrypting inline. For example, if i create a file like secrets.json:

then i encrypt the file using sops -e -i secrets.json and cat the file i get the following results:

notice the data at the top of the encrypted file. am i doing something wrong?

never mind, i'm an idiot... was testing some regex keys and forgot to change them back. sorry
