Download & extract climate data for ForestGEO sites.

Download data from the following sources for all ForestGEO sites:

• SPEI
• NEX Global Daily Downscaled Climate Projections
• MSWEP: 3-hourly 0.25° global gridded precipitation (1979–2015) by merging gauge, satellite, and reanalysis data
• Abatzoglou et al. (2018) - TerraClimate, a high-resolution global dataset of monthly climate and climatic water balance from 1958–2015 (suggested by J. Lutz)
• Ryu data. see issue Add radiation data from Ryu...Detto (2017) #1
• CRU TS 4.01
• Deficit data for US- based upon PRISM
• Sheffield 2005- Development of a 50-Year High-Resolution Global Dataset of Meteorological Forcings for Land Surface Modeling
• TerraClimate: global 4km dataset of temperature, precip and water balance variables spanning 6+ decades
• "Earth Network Total Lightning Network (ENTLN) from 2013 to 2018 (Liu & Heckman, 2012). These data were available on a 0.05 × 0.05 degree pantropical grid (c. 5 × 5 km). The resulting estimates of CG lightning frequency represent a lower bound of lightning frequency because the ENTLN network misses an unknown proportion of lightning strikes in each cell. In general, we will want to get the finest resolution possible, all variables available (primary and derived), complete time series, and all available time resolutions (unless this is onerous).

I added one more data product: CRU TS 4.01. This is an update of some data we already have.

It might be better if you pushed the new version of CRU, do the folder rearrangement and update the readme file accordingly since you have the code that calculates the annual averages and know better how you want things to be organized.
The new data is in the R drive. Let me know if you would rather have me do it.
