I hate to ask but seems there's been no response to my previous issue nor the issues that user rgov has filed either and this appears to be the recommended tool by the coveralls.io system.

It is an open source project, anyone is able to contribute as they see fit.

AFAIK the people who maintain it don't do this as part of their job, I still use cpp-coveralls in many of my open source projects and it behaves for my use cases.
