Automated generation of strikes #34

Description

@drichards2

There is a potential desire to ring with the computer ringing some subset of bells. There are several possible approaches to fill in some proportion of bells:

  • Metronomic (so basically like Abel, but with features to keep the clients fairly accurately in sync)
  • Assured gap (ring n ms after the previous bell)
  • Somewhere in-between (e.g. Kalman filtering on peal speed)

Additionally such a robot could be used to fill in blows which were potentially missing [due to network issues]. Going a stage yet further, even in cases where there are full bands of human ringers, each ringer could be listening to themselves with a computer ringing the remaining bells. There would still be a nominal 'performance' consisting of [only] the blows generated by people, and hopefully the 'robots' would potentially keep them in better sync than the various delays over the internet.

Of course, in any case, there would need to be a fairly precise definition of what was being rung given beforehand.
