iOS Shortcut to Send Current Location to Reitti or any similar service (OwnTracks Format) at Regular Intervals

Hello. I cobbled together 2 ios shorcuts that send the current location in owntrack format to Reitti or any similar service like Dawarich/Geopulse.
Used ChatGPT and Reddit comments to do this. But it works pretty well.

I posted the instructions and shorcuts on the Geopulse repo, so just linking it here to keep things in one place. Hopefully it helps someone.

Hi @radh21301,

I appreciate the effort you put in but this does not fit nicely for reitti. I have seen you have this send data every 15minutes. I think this is way to low of a frequency for reitti. We need around a point every 30 seconds. Better every 15 seconds.

Hey. I certainly do not think this should be the primary option.

I use it in addition to owntracks. When I come home, I set it to Significant Locations mode to reduce battery use. And I dont get any data until I leave home (which could be days sometimes). So, thought having some data come in every 15 mins is better.

30s logging the entire day kills my battery in 5 hrs. I am assuming many other folks do something like mento save battery when not needed.

Ok, I see your case for this. I still believe this has no use for reitti in the current form, since reitti would not be able to make any meaningful assumptions about the single point every 15 min. What you would need is sending multiple points. Maybe 5 with different timestamps at the same location. This way, reitti would detect a Visit and will merge this with the one 15min ago since there are no points in between.

Hey, got it. Thanks for explaining why Reitti needs those more frequent updates when the device isn’t moving. It makes sense now, though I’m still not sure how others handle the battery side of things. I’ll give the multiple timestamp option a try though. That sounds like a good approach.
