Problem Statement

With GNOME Cheese being deprecated, many users are looking for a suitable replacement. It would be helpful to have the option to use more space saving default settings.

Proposed Solution

I have attached two screenshots showing the default Cheese configuration. Using these settings results in files that are roughly one tenth the size of those produced by Camera, while still being perfectly usable.

What encoder settings are you using in this Camera app?

Would you be able to share a video file that records the same scene and has the same length (for example 10 seconds) both captured on the Cheese app and this Camera app? This would help me a lot finding potential causes, since it might be related to the hardware (hardware encoders, camera resolution, etc).

Hi, I was just looking around the repo and noticed this issue. My webcam is really bad so the video itself sucks but I've filmed 10 seconds of the same scene with Cheese and this Camera (default Settings, just installed both of them). Hopefully it helps.
