Is there an existing issue for this?
Proposed feature request
I previously used this app that would turn the backlight on by detecting if you had raised your arm to check your watch: https://apps.repebble.com/backlight_558dbbc4a6c6cced76000004
Per the text in the description, there were a few issues that made it a bit less reliable, but as a proof of concept I think it's great! I would personally prefer this over shake (or even tap) to "wake" (i.e. turn on backlight) if it were implemented. I could also see potential for other stuff to activate with this behavior, similar to how some watchfaces can show their Seconds hand on a shake event.
Creating this ticket in the hopes that this could be made an alternative (or complementary) option to the shake behavior at some point! Hopefully that app's description gives some helpful direction on related issues that might need squashing, though some may not be barriers when working at the firmware level?
