Support for AMS 0.9x

Hi @adamcrown, thank you for open sourcing this! I came here via the issue on AMS.. wondering if adding support for AMS 0.9x is something you'd consider? Or is it something you'd expect to work out of the box?

Hi @oyeanuj. I'd certainly be happy to take a PR as long as we don't break support for the later versions.

I wouldn't mind writing myself either, but at this point I can't make any promises as to when that would happen.
