Please don't use GitHub Org Announcements for KubeCon/Event Promotion

Hi! Over in OpenTelemetry we recently had a governance election. We used GitHub announcement banners to try and drive awareness of the election for organization members, but the KubeCon banner from CNCF was overriding it.

I suppose this is a two-part question:

1. Is there a way in GitHub settings to make our banners (open-telemetry) take precedence over cncf ones?
2. If not, could cncf not use announcement banners to promote general events?

If there has to be a KubeCon banner, it would be better to tune it for the individual project (for example to let people know about co-located relevant Day 0 or developer events). And in my opinion, the project maintainers should have at least reviewing rights.

I wonder if there are any statistics on how many registrations those banners drive?
