micropython binary

I just received the picocalc.
After assembling it, adding batteries and it was starting.

I tried the "MicroPython_1aa4069.bin" it will be flashed but the console only showed up short.
But then it falls back to the initial screen of the bootloader and the applications.

Is there a fresh binary available?

Another issue when starting for example the MP3 player, which works,
is there a possibility to terminate without power cycling?

This seems to be true for all the other applications, too.

you are using the multi boot loader ,right?

Sorry but there is like no fresh binary available right now

and for the MP3 player , I do remember there is a stop key which can stop playing, just follow the hits in the bottom of MP3 player

Hi, just received mine, and exact same issue with MicroPython. If by "multi boot loader" you mean the menu that appears to select firmware, yes, that's the way I'm attempting to launch it. Everything else appears to launch just fine. Any ideas?

I also haven't figured out how to reset to the bootloader menu beyond power cycling. I assume that's normal.

Update: I did some poking around, and loading BIOS v1.2 did it. The compiled file "PicoCalc_BIOS_v1.2.bin" is in the bin folder in this project's repo. I was able to flash it to my unit using the instructions located on the Wiki here. I'm running Ubuntu, so I had to run this first:

sudo apt install stm32flash

Read the whole Wiki page I linked though; there may be other dependencies you need to set up first if, like me, this is your first go-round.

MicroPython v1.26 (which came on my SD card) is running just fine now.

My impression is to find all related information is not that easy,because there is no central point describing in detail the necessary stepsto get started. Many people do describe individual solutions from there perspective,but if you want to start it takes a lot of time to find all this. Concerning me what is missing: Which Pico/Pico2/PicoW/Pico2W needs which working bootloader version.Just naming them somewhere is not helpful.( By the way I soldered a "RUN" button to the Pico to be able to force it into drive mode without opening the case.)  Which BIOS should be on the SD card.The directory structure I found is totally outdated.It still shows "pico_apps" not "pico1_apps". The DIP-switch description I found is confusing. It says DIP 1 should be used to flash the MCU,but the schematic uses sel1/2. The chaining of the two transmission gates with the USB device is clever but not well described. A table might help. The two sil connectors are used for what? Only one is controlled by the Pico. A complete list which Pico pin/GPIO is used for which function as a table and a "picocalc_gpio.h" file might be helpful for those doing any C development. I am attaching a PDF which is my personal wiki. It has been created with Obsidian and exported the markdown as PDF.   Having a BASIC interpreter is nice, a working MicroPython is needed. I am more familiar with C/C++ either using vscode or Arduino. I thing a description how to setup a working toolchain may also help. Up to now I only found the possibility to upload a uf2 file from an Arduino build. This is my status up to now. Kind regards Klaus P. I continued playing around and have been somehow succesful doing what I wanted to do. The ILI9488 was causing a little bit of headache, but because I used it earlier I managed it. I think just use the combination when you met the problem first time
