Mark selected background

Hi,

i have a question...would it be possible to mark the selected area? F.e. in bar charts its sometimes hard to see where the selected area starts and where it ends (because the gaps between the last bar of month 1 and the first bar of month 2 is so small):

So my idea would be to mark the selected month (like in my example) and put the background in a light grey so that you can see where it starts and ends...
