Add nice empty space from design

In the original design, Michele had grey for the negative space in the highlight blocks to the right of the steps and it makes really long highlight blocks with little text much easier to look at.

Hey @michellemartir it's definitely looking better! I checked out the branch but I don't see a pr (maybe you decided to keep working on it).

One thing I should have mentioned ... we decided not to use the pink for the syntax blocks .. only because I don't want the tutorial to fee gendered. I do think it's easier to read but maybe there's another color we could use?

If you leave the text black/dark, maybe just yellow, like a traditional highlighter?
