Using HASS.Agent to send Frigate event notifications to your PC

Problem:
Is your PC far from the front door? While immersed in gaming or music, do you risk missing delivery personnel or not noticing when a neighbor’s child sneaks into your yard again?

Solution:
This setup offers flexible notifications—delivering alerts directly to your PC while you work.

Prerequisites:

• Home Assistant
• HASS.Agent
• HASS.Agent-Integration
• Frigate-Integration

Step 1: Install HASS.Agent on Your PC
Follow the https://github.com/hass-agent/HASS.Agent for installation (details skipped here).

Key Configurations for HASS.Agent:

1. Enable Local API (required for notifications).

2. Notifications Settings:
   • Turn on "Accept Notifications".
   • Recommended: Enable "Ignore certificate error for images" (avoids certificate-related failures).
   • For clickable URI actions (e.g., opening links), check "Treat URI Action elements as Android Companion APP (open)".

3. Frigate Port (Optional but Ideal):
   • Open port 5000 on Frigate for local, unauthenticated access (critical for fetching camera snapshots).
   • ⚠️ Critical Security Step: Configure your firewall to block external access to port 5000 to prevent leaks.

Step 2: Add HASS.Agent Integration to Home Assistant

1. Install the https://github.com/hass-agent/HASS.Agent-Integration
2. In Home Assistant, add a new integration entry → Select "HASS.Agent Local API".

Step 3: Create Automations
Example: Notify when someone lingers at the front door.

1. Define the Trigger (Frigate Zone Detection):
   • In Frigate-Integration, locate your pre-configured "Front_door" zone (set up in Frigate for your doorway).
   • Trigger Type: Device → Select Frigate’s "Front_door".
   • Event: Choose "Front_door Person occupancy became occupied" (triggers when a person is detected).
   • Duration: Set to 02 seconds (notifies only if the person stays longer than 2 seconds).

2. Set the Action (PC Notification):
   • Under "Then do", click "Add action" → Select "Notifications" → Choose your PC’s name.
   • Edit the Notification:
     • Message/Title: Customize as needed.
     • Critical Data (YAML):

       • Explanation:
         • image: Uses a static JPEG (latest.jpg) from Frigate’s API (Windows doesn’t support dynamic videos/gifs).
         • actions: Adds a "Click to check" button to open the Frigate page directly.

3. Test & Save:
   • Click the menu (⋮) → "Run action" to test. If the notification appears on your PC, save the automation.
