Hey! Thanks for creating the guide, I'll note a few things I see on a quick glance:

1. regarding the SHM size, this is of the detect stream. It doesn't matter what your recording resolution is
2. 320 size for models is generally the recommended size especially when wanting to detect smaller / further away objects

In my case I'm using the full 1080p stream for detect and record. With the cameras I have this gives better results.

right, I just mean that is an assumption, but since this is a tutorial it is probably best to be explicit. Many users refer to cameras by their maximum resolution.

For the 640 size, I followed the recommendations of the YOLOv9 repository which seems to default to 640. https://github.com/WongKinYiu/yolov9

For general object detection, yes, however the Frigate docs recommend 320 because that is the size it is generally designed to use and what we see as the best results for small and far away objects

Is it Frigate that's optimized to 320 or the model? I explicitly exported the model to accept 640 if that makes a difference.

Frigate works best with 320, and in most cases models with that resolution perform best especially for detecting smaller and further away objects.

640 is best when you have a closer-up scene that is more crowded as it can handle a larger area of the camera in a single inference.
