Is it possible to track mice or other animals using frigate ?

I have a camera setup to monitor some mouse traps using frigate. Frigate is not identifying the mice. Is the mouse object detection the computer mouse or the animal? Is it possible to setup frigate+ to identify an animal mouse using a custom model? or alert on motion? I'm trying to track where the mice are getting in.

I apologize if this has been asked before. I did a search and didn't see it

In the default free model, mouse is a computer mouse.

Right. You could train a custom model, but that's quite an involved process.

One of the candidate labels is rodent, perhaps that will cover your use case when it becomes a detectable object in Frigate+.

Thanks Hawkeye. For now, I'll wait for the rodent candidate model. I'm using the Home Assistant Addon. There is a motion detection indicator for the Reolink camera that will work in the interim. I can then manually check the recording. If you have any other suggestions. If not I think we can call this answered.

If you are looking in a low-motion area, you can always just use Motion Review in Frigate as well (Review --> Motion in the UI).

Any idea when rodent might move from a candidate label to detectable? I've been submitting images in Frigate+ to help contribute to the training of the model.

Wondering the same. I've submitted a few that I've happened to catch so far thanks to Frigate detecting them as birds (I corrected the classification before submitting). I'm sure a few have been missed. Its getting cold here and I'm trying to track the ways they're trying to get into my house, so being able to detect them would be very helpful.
