[Support]: Cannot view pre-upgrade recordings after upgrade to 0.14.0

Describe the problem you are having

After upgrading to 0.14.0, we cannot view footage in history made before the date of the upgrade.

We only see "No Preview Found" and a spinning circle.

Steps to reproduce

• click a camera
• click history
• select a date from before the upgrade
• click a time in the timeline

Interestingly this seems to work when the browser window is made small, at which point I have a list of "no preview found" thumbnails along the right. The timeline still doesn't work (it runs from midnight of the selected day) but the footage is historical.

The expected historical recordings are present in the media directory (along with post upgrade footage).

Did you change the name of the camera in your config file after you upgraded? The error message you're seeing in the log shows it's looking for camera, but in your config file it's named cam1.

Based on your screengrabs, it looks like you're behind a proxy. Does any of this improve if you access Frigate directly on port 5000 (not behind a proxy)?

The above occurs when I bypass my proxy (and so access via http). I'm gathering those logs now.

Are you seeing any errors in the frigate logs at that time as well?

We've pushed some fixes for the recordings view that are now available in the latest dev builds. Feel free to test them and let us know if anything has changed or improved for you.

We haven't had any other reports of pre-0.14 recordings not working, so I'm not sure it's worth pursuing more at this point.

If you do have problems with post-0.14 recordings, that's definitely worth looking at in another discussion.

So I although I expect the previews (in the mini screens?) not to work, I did expect the larger media player to do so (as per the advice in the upgrade notes).

So to be clear, the larger screen / main camera in History view will also display a preview until you seek to a position on the timeline where a full recording is found. If you only had active_objects as a retention policy pre-0.14, you would need to scrub to a position on the timeline where you know you had an active object.

We're recording 24x7 so expect there to always be footage. "Clicking" at an arbitrary time doesn't do anything to a spinning player (although the timeline does seem populated with noise). Perhaps recording everything is what makes this set up different?

Perhaps interestingly, when we do see footage, clicking in the timeline makes the larger screen blink but start the footage again.

This is making me think. In post 0.14 footage, I do see the switch between preview and full recordings.

If pre-0.14 footage doesn't have previews, that explains the message I'm seeing. It's at this point that frigate should find the full video, but doesn't - if I select a date where no footage is available on disk, then we see a "no recordings found for this time" message.

FWIW I just (re)discovered the export feature and that works great, even for pre-0.14 footage. That's good enough for this edge case I guess.
