Image quality score

While working for a project I needed to find a way to score images based on sharpness etc.. The current BRISQUE image quality score is not 100% accurate to subjective feeling but it works reasonably well. [Torben als had a student once where they looked into an underwater specific image quality score.] We could add a image quality score "section" in image metadata in the volume info (or of course another new button 🤪) to trigger the image quality score measurement. Per image computation is quite fast. This feature would be meaningful in combination with the sort images feature.

Would an image label ("pass"/"fail") added via the API also work for this use case?

Depending on the the use case. Yes. But it would be much less versatile.

• The value is dependent on the dataset. If the images are very bad overall 0.4 might be a good value. In general this is a bad value. If everything say below 0.5 would be bad then the whole value is rated bad still you have to use it in some cases
• Sometimes you want the best 10% etc. this would not be possible.
• This would exclude all users without programming knowledge
• I could also do this offline then

But I agree that this adds complexity to the Biigle ecosystem. So we would have to decide if this is meaningful for us.
