Edit two books of the same bible in parallel

When you translate Matthew, Mark and Luke you often need to switch between the parallel passages to compare them. It would help a lot if you could leave two edit windows of different books open in parallel; the synoptical gospels, john, acts, kings and chronicles, NT/AT to compare quotes, the genealogy and so on. As far as I know, at the moment you can open two different bibles, but when you change the book, both windows follow so to say. What I wish to have are two independent editing windows with resources.

This is not an easy one because there's one central location where passage navigation gets stored and where the edit windows and the resource window fetch their focused passages from. Additionally in the workspaces there's only one navigation block with multiple windows following that focused passage, and that complicates things. It needs a bit of thought, and it needs ideas, to get this off the ground in a manner that is a bit intuitive.

I guess you need something like the Evangelienharmonie https://evangelienharmonie.de/Valtorta/mvha.html. Similar what Accordance and Logos do. A or more databases.

From Accordance

You can choose different databases, Bibles.
You can search for the heading number (simply counted up), heading description, and certainly verse ref.

In a limited form, the feature of Accordance / Logos is already available in Bibledit.
It can be seen here:

Tick the option "Display related passages", and it gives limited parallel passages.
This could likely be of assistance a bit during translation efforts to get translations more consistent.

But still the original poster asked for independent passages in two Bible editor windows in the same Bible. That feature is not yet available. Still thinking about a plan how to implement that...

Yes, first of all you need two edit windows. It would be sufficient if one window has the edit focus at a time, but the other shouldn't disappear. A parallel editing mode that follows the related passages automatically would be nice, but is not so important at the moment in my view.

The Bible editors and the Resources have their own Passage Navigator at the top.
If two Bible editors are put into one Workspace, then this workspace is the one that has the Passage Navigator at the top, and both editors in that workspace follow that navigator.

To have two Bible editors that should edit text at two different passages, that is not possible in a Workspace, because there's only one navigator. To have two Bible editors at different passages, these Bible editor should each be in one tab of the browser.

That does not yet work now, but it should work after this issue has been implemented.
