Local run of python2 test_all.py is very slow

The CI jobs complete the the whole set of unit tests run in around six minutes:

I'm running the tests on Windows 10 under WSL 2 w/ Ubuntu 20.04 on 40 cores machine with 64 GB RAM and it takes more than 25 minutes veeery long!

What is the reason of such a huge run time difference?

I've never tried, or looked into, running b2 inside WSL, so no immediate real answer. The usual suspect for this is that the underlying file system is slow.
By the way, you can use python3 to run the tests also. If you want to drop py2 from your thinking :-)

I checked locally just to be sure.. And on my Manjaro ArchLinux it's as quick as CI:

I know WSL 2 filesystem is first to blame here, but I have not observed such a huge different in the WSL 2 filesystem performance for any other use cases (e.g. Boost builds, git status for Boost or other large code bases).
