Description
Issues
- When I attach the removable keyboard, which covers the bottom screen entirely, the bottom screen remains on.
- The buttons on the keyboard intended to change screen brightness do nothing.
- The button on the keyboard that is supposed to turn off the second screen does nothing.
Solution?
There is a kernel mod project which addresses these issues:
I am running aurora-dx-hwe:latest, which, I am told, is based on the bazzite kernel.
I expected it to include kernel mods specific to ASUS laptops, but I don’t know how to check if this mod is included, and I suspect that it is not, since nothing I expect it to provide seems to work.
Background
NOTE: There is a newer 2025 model that is a light update to the chip set (Intel Ultra Core 9 185H => 285H), but otherwise looks identical. I have the older 185H model from 2024. It seems the base model number UX8406M stays the same across these generations. There are older Duo models with different model numbers, but those screens never get covered by the keyboard. Despite that, those users also want the ability to turn off the second screen, as seen here.
