is it possible to add customization of the report output file via a flag? just to avoid the fixed name report.xml

You can set BATS_REPORT_FILENAME, i.e. for junit

BATS_REPORT_FILENAME=myreport.xml bats test.bats --report-formatter junit

and with --output you can control the directory where it should go
