Discovery not working for Pattern 1

Describe the bug
When uploading a document to the discovery section of the solution, the output is FAILED each time for PATTERN 1. This has been tested in both eu-west-2 region and us-west-2 region.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to Discovery
2. Click on upload
3. Do not upload ground truth
4. Click Start Discovery
5. See error
   Expected behavior
   Status will start with PENDING then IN PROGRESS then FAILED

Additional context
Have changed the model for Discovery in EU regions but still not able to get it working.

This has been tested in both eu-west-2 region and us-west-2 region.

So just to be clear, you do see this problem in us-west-2?

I am unable to reproduce with v0.4.2 in us-west-2 - I get successful discovery - see below.

So let's dig deeper.. Can you find the log group, DiscoveryProcessorFunctionLogGroup, and share any error messages that you find there.. You can find and open the log group by using the Resources tab of the CloudFormation Stack.. see blow

Hi @rstrahan, I've recreated the error in us-west-2, I think it might be an issue with selecting a different model, I'm using Claude Sonnet 4.5 as it is available in London region compared to the other models available in the configuration dropdown. Below is the error message found in the log group:

Error processing document document/20251120_111756_claimForm.pdf: Failed to extract data from document Traceback (most recent call last): File "/var/task/idp_common/discovery/classes_discovery.py", line 91, in discovery_classes_with_document raise Exception("Failed to extract data from document") Exception: Failed to extract data from document

Hi @ccl19 - can you find any earlier messages in the log group that might reveal more insight into the root cause. Please look through all the errors logged.

I think it might be an issue with selecting a different model,
Can you test this theory?

• look for evidence in the logs
• try a different model

Alternatively if you can give me complete steps to reproduce (do not leave out any steps) I can dig deeper,
