Email Address Hyperlinks Treated as Relative Links, not mailto: Links

It seems that sometimes when \email{example@email.com} is used in the LaTeX source, the HTML version contains a hyperlink with href="YYMM.numbervV/mailto:example@email.com" instead of href="mailto:example@email.com", which obviously doesn't open an email client.

I do not know what the cause is, but it seems to be happening with a lot of recent papers. Strangely, I don't recall this being an issue in the HTML preview before submission. It's only in the live version that I've noticed the problem.
