How to Pass the headers Dynamically to the Apollo MCP Server

I have different AI Applications forwarding the traffic to the MCP Servers whuch having diffrent Client Names how to pass the headers to mcp server dynamically and forward to the supergraph.

eg header is ai-client-name: chat-app

i see that currently headers are statically coded now.

@DaleSeo Dynamic headers are also something I need. I see that the only way to pass headers currently is when we initialize the Apollo MCP server, right? But I have some cases in my graph where I'd like to change header values, like a tenant or user ID. In Apollo Playground, we can change these values ​​for every query we run. So, is there a way to have a similar approach in MCP without having to stop the server and change the header values?

Thanks for the heads-up, @rrazvd. The security team is currently reviewing this feature request, as it could enable token passthrough, which is a practice explicitly prohibited by the MCP spec (see: https://modelcontextprotocol.io/specification/2025-06-18/basic/security_best_practices#token-passthrough).

That said, I suspect we’ll end up supporting this one way or another. I’ll share updates here as soon as they’re available.
