Extension deprecated in Chrome

The Alpheios extension appears to be blocked "This extension is no longer available because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions" in current versions of Chrome, Chromium, Brave, etc.

While users can reenable it, this is probably a deterrance to installation and usage.

Yes this is caused by #324 . We need additional resources to fix this.

@balmas Is this a question of grants or donations? Would it be worth crowdfunding for, for example?

Past crowdfunding attempts were not very successful. It also takes resources to raise resources.

Without calling on your resources, if you have an indication of the cost involved, I could see if it plausible to ask if there would be interest around to help raise the amount you need. There are a lot of people who could help (youtubers, Latin Reddit etc) who I could reach out to, at least.

We are more than delighted to learn of your concern for Alpheios. At the moment we have managed to find the resources to have one programmer working on this problem and we are closely monitoring the potential of the various AI assistants to contribute to its solution, so it may not be the best moment to try to raise funds for this particular issue.
