The slings and arrows of npm installs in CI

I've been doing CI for building and deploying front end for www.booktrack.com (and 4 related sites/apps).
One of the most frustrating things is keeping npm builds stable and predictable.

I'd be happy to share what our company came to so that it is not that big a problem anymore.
Anyone interested?

I think 10 is a good length, enough time for people to get into it but not too much so they get bored.
