Default horizontal alignment styles

the alignment styles of the GFM tables (and pandoc) are to use : for left, right or using both for center alignments. but they cannot convey justified alignment.

should the grid tables use : as the GFM tables, and not support justify, or use a different character for more extended features (eg > and <) or change the : semantics for center and justify?
