• correct, vCPUs is the number of threads.
• AFAIK, the performance is more affected by the CPU, The RAM is used to load the program and the model, so as long as you have enough RAM you are good.
• I don't understand what do you mean by throwing a GPU into the mix! Could you clarify more ?

Does havign a GPU affect the performance, or just the number of vCPUs affects the performance?

This package is based on whisper.cpp which is CPU only. So having a GPU or not does not make any difference.
