I guess this would not be the right package to place it, but the idea would be to build a complex radiative transfer model (like SAIL or our own multilayer canopy model) that is parameterized from an existing FSPM using a
sliceralgorithm. This could further be expanded into a 2D and 3D model (like in MAESPA). This could entirely replace the ray tracer in some scenarios or use it only to compute scattered radiation. The tricky part is how to send information back to the FSPM.
