irm -r does not delete the folder itself

When doing an "irm -r" on a folder, the contents of the folder is deleted (at least files directly inside it), but not the folder itself.

On logical iRODS filespace?
Or on local cache filestorage?
Or on sweStore?

On Swestore, and the local cache resource. In iRODS logical filespace it is removed.

There is no arcrmdir and univMSS driver dont have a rmdir function etiher.

help page of arcrm states it only deletes files.

the same with srmrm,,

there is a srmrmdir but no univsMSS function.

True ... and when echoing the paths executed with rm in univMSS, I see that it only deletes files, does not even try to delete the folders. (I tried with a two-level folder structure).

Not a show stopper, definitely, just a bit annoying if it will leave a lot of empty folders up there, if doing a lot of changes ...

Well, it's definitely a bug, it doesn't seem very reasonable to have plenty of empty folders lying around, imho.

So a msi which is removing empty directories for a given input physical resource would be a good start ? 
Would you need to have some starting points (it could be a subdir of the parent directory defined in the resource definition) ? 
Extra options ?
Does it make sense ?
