Feedback from David:

score seems to stop at 4? I think the familiarization mode should have 5 - and after 3 successful attempts should move to 10 stars on the screen. Having played it, it is sometimes difficult to know if you should be going forwards or backwards, so the instructions need to be clearly displayed - but perhaps we can bring this in with the graphics. The kids found it very difficult, I think primarily around the need to lock the gaze on the target - since this is not really the aim of the game (it is just a visuospatial memory game) - can this be done just using the touch screen function, so ignoring the need for head/eye tracking on this one?

  • after I asked for clarification:

So the goal is the maximum sequence they achieved, so the win screen should show the max length instead [rather than number of sequences]. There needs to be 5 stars on the screen for the familiarisation games, then 10 stars on the screen for the other games - but obviously the sequence of which stars will light up will be different. I can't recall what we said the progression was, but seems like it might just be easier for the game to carry on until you fail each time, then go back until they get the next one right? So then each time they get the opportunity to beat their score. Each correct sequence should also have a tick or something appear on the screen to tell them they got it right or wrong.

Definition of Done

  • Change win screen (+ score counter?) to display maximum length achieved, rather than the number of sequences that have been repeated.
  • Remove gaze tracking to select stars, and instead have players touch the screen
  • Increase number of games that must reach the max sequence length to 3 (rather than 2) - to upgrade from small to large constellation
  • Add a tick (or something similar) to make it clearer when they get the sequence correct or wrong
  • Make sure the repeat order is clear. At the moment this appears in the top right, but we should make sure it is highlighted as part of the intro explanation: Add Instructions for Minigames #25
