Is Hazel 2D abandoned?

There hasn't been an update in 2 years, there hasn't been much activity on the open PR's, and there are almost 100 open issues with very little activity. Cherno also seems to be entirely focusing on 3D and not on this project, and hasn't talked about it in years, and there was no mention of it on the recent roadmap video, which was entirely focused on 3D. He's even stopped using the Hazel2D/Hazel3D naming and just refers to 3D as Hazel.

So has this project been abandoned?

Actually, I think there was an update on the YT channel yesterday that the full Hazel will be available to all.

Not sure where the code will be or what that means in real term, but if it is true, then I would guess that the 2D version will fall by the wayside as it would not really be needed anymore.

2D and 3D are different things though, with different needs, and this engine was always the fully open one that matched the old YouTube series. He always said that this engine was meant to be the learning one and 3D is his personal Unity competitor. Different use cases.

In the video, he didn’t say the source would be available for all (for now), for that you still need to be a patron subscriber for now (he did always say that it would eventually be fully opened).

That wasn't my understanding to be honest.

The Hazel 2D was just a subsection of the "main" Hazel, (2D, 3D and latest changes), and he would use it from time to time to make videos.
He would often talk about how it is done already in the main Hazel.

But none of that matters, the fact that nobody apart from me has replied to you in 2 days clearly shows that this part of the project has been discontinued.

It would be nice if he tidied up that section a little at least or removed it altogether, it causes confusion.
