If you enable the option, see that it has been applied, and then disable it, the cactus hitbox will not be restored to its previous state. A game restart is required to apply the changes.
Why do you need to toggle an option while playing?
When farming a very long line of cacti at the maximum effective speed (464) on Hypixel, at some point, due to the 1.12+ hitboxes, the targeting occurs at the gap between cacti and this stops breaking blocks, for quite a long time, which reduces the effectiveness, which is unpleasant (confirmed by multiple users, here and here).
I'm comfortable having 1.12+ hitboxes on all crops except cactus, so I was thinking of switching it when needed, but I found this bug.
Possible solutions?
- Fix the bug itself.
- Option to toggle 1.12+ hitboxes specifically for cactus (disabled by default; I would prefer this option).
