Because there is no node path in the environment variable PATH, the ide cannot be automatically recognized, so need to manually add the node path. Is there a solution?

Why is it not in your PATH?

In the README’s Shell Setup section, it is described how to initialize this, e.g.

eval "$(fnm env --use-on-cd --shell zsh)"

When you look into what fnm env for the respective shell returns, it contains something like:

export PATH="/Users/your_user/.local/state/fnm_multishells/12345_1234567890123/bin":$PATH

So it should definitely be set in your PATH variable.

Perhaps your IDE does not use the shell resource file where you set this up.

Had the same, manually adding to path worked. My case was a git hook triggered by Sublime Merge on windows - it doesn't load pwsh profile when executing git.

On Windows:

[System.Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("Path", ("$HOME\AppData\Roaming\fnm\aliases\default;" + [System.Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "User")), "User")

will put fnm's default node version folder into $env:PATH, and because fnm will put generated temp folder (~\AppData\Local\fnm_multishells\xxxx) at start of PATH, fnm use xxx is not affected.

Default node version is the first version you fnm install, and you can change it by fnm default xxx but I prefer to fnm default lts-latest so my IDE will use latest LTS version installed.
