Disable attempt to connect to huggingface.co

Is there a way to specify to faster_whisper to not try to connect to huggingface.co ?

Why? It downloads models from there.
Don't try to use a model you don't have, and it won’t connect there.

indeed, but it downloaded the model the first time. And this machine work off-line. So every time I have to wait the timeout...

So if there a solution to skip the connection attempt that would be great.

It does not. My machines are all 100% off line and there is no such timeout. You must have something incorrectly configured.

1. Download the model manually.
2. Run faster_whisper giving it the path to the directory holding the model files.

Would you have the url for the turbo model ?

I've tried (to load the previously automated downloaded model, without trigger a network connection)

model = WhisperModel('/home/foobar/.cache/huggingface/hub/models--...', ... )

But that's not working...

Don't use Huggingface cache.

Download the files into a folder of your choice - say /home/foobar/models/faster-whisper-small - you will have in this folder:

• config.json
• model.bin
• tokenizer.json
• vocabulary.txt

Then you use it with:

model = WhisperModel('/home/foobar/models/faster-whisper-small', ...)

See the files tab? Click on it. Then download the files.

Or use any other methods https://huggingface.co/docs/hub/en/models-downloading

But seems like manually downloading the 4-5 files from the Files tab will be more like your level so try that.
