Solis cloud and solis_modbus parallel work using WL data logger

Hi!
I tested solis_modbus and it works for my inverter: S6-EH3P10K-H with WL type datalogger connected via ethernet.
However when I enable it on home assistant, then it looses connection with solis cloud. So it looks that they can't work in parallel. After I restart home assistant then solis cloud takes over and home assistant integration is not getting data from inverter. I have changed settings to that fast pulling happens every 30 seconds and slow requests every 120 seconds. So it should not be that I overload the inverter, I guess.
Have anyone had similar problem?

Just to give other input. My solis inverter S6 had a separate RS485 input. So I bought one waveshare device (rs485 to ehternet) to set up as Modbus TCP server and was able to use this integration easy. And it works very well.

Does anyone know how this behaves if Solis send a firmware update? Presumably if they transfer the firmware over standard modbus commands it'll be OK; just wanted to check if anyone had any experience (presently I don't have soliscloud connected)

@thigger seems like Solis can't communicate with the inverter in this case. I have a support case with them right now and they can't connect to the inverter and can't update the firmware.

There is a switch to disable the modbus, if that doesn't work, you can disable the integration and restart home assistant. Just enable it again aftwrwards.

I had this issue too.
For a firmware update I disconnected the waveshare setup completely and plugged the dongle into the inverter directly.
Solis could then update the firmware. Once done I put it all back to how it was and all worked again.

I'm wondering - is this still the case? I've enabled the modbus integration last night and today I see the sensors getting active & filled. At the same time, SolisCloud keeps being functional : I can log in & see the sensors registering the latest input.

So for me it seems, both systems can work in parallel - strange? Do take into account it is a wired datalogger (no waveshare setup) & I only have the inverter for 2 strings of solar, no batteries or generators. Rather simple use case.

Ignore me, after 2 hours the system realized the dual setup & solis cloud did not register anything anymore. So it only worked in parallel for a small time. Probably the moment HA rebooted, the fun was over.

Same here: sometimes the solis cloud seems to work together with HA even for longer periods, but then suddenly it stops working. I'm in a long discussion with Solis concerning a PV string that only produces 50% of power. And they always keep saying that they cannot fully follow the inverter via the cloud ...

Yes, I see it is not a black/white situation: the modbus integration works fine continously. The Solidcloud works in parallel but seamingly in random periods it goes offline (as expected). I don't see a pattern yet, but for today it worked fine for about 60% of the time. Soliscloud being offline can be seen in yellow highlighted areas: then AC Output parameter from solis cloud becomes 0.

Note: I do like the modbus integration for being more fine-grained. I'll probably stop soliscloud integration anyway.

With the fast poll interval set to 15 seconds and normal and slow set to a very large number (effectively no polling) my S2 stick and RAI inverter have been behaving well for about a week now (touch wood).

I can't comment on other Solis inverters than my S6-EH3P15K-H, but I can confirm that both the Home Assistant (HA) Modbus integration and Solis Cloud can work in parallel and stably—at least in my setup. Here’s how I achieved it:

I connected the HA Modbus integration using the inverter’s existing RS485 port (specifically Pin 4 and Pin 5, as per the manual).
A crucial step that’s often overlooked: you must enable “Parallel Operation Mode” in the inverter’s settings. Only after activating this mode is the RS485 port enabled for use, and you will see “Master 1x” displayed on the inverter’s UI screen.
Without enabling Parallel Operation Mode, the RS485 port remains inactive, which can prevent simultaneous connections and cause communication issues. Double-check these settings to ensure both your datalogger (for Solis Cloud) and your Home Assistant integration can access the inverter concurrently.

Connection instructions can be found in the Solis manual. In my setup, the connection is labeled as "RS485 RJ45 Third-party external devices." As previously mentioned, it is essential to enable Parallel Setting > Master.

I am using an RS485 to LAN converter (MOXA), which is an industrial-grade converter. However, I have also tested with Waveshare and generic (no-name) converters from Aliexpress. I do not recommend using the cheapest options, as their internal quality is uncertain—at minimum, choose a converter from a recognized brand.

1st you need firmware 100121cf on your logger stick. The setting is called "Max. Number of Connections Setting" and I only have seen it on the website, not in the app.
"Go to the SolisCloud portal, Devices, Datalogger, click the serial number, (top right) More, Datalogger Control.
From there you can check the current Max Connections and set it to 2."

Mine was 100171b6 as well, but the setting was there nonetheless.

there is a new Firmware that allows both. modbus + Solis cloud.

I created a ticket to Solis and requested the modbus TCP Firmware. for my s2-wl-st USB stick.
my fw version is now: 100121cf.

it's running for 2 days now without issues.

Are you saying that Solis have released a new firmware for the S2-WL-ST data logger so that it now supports multiple TCP/IP connections? Therefore allowing HA modbus integrations and Solis Cloud to operate simultaneously?

I have S2-WL-ST with Datalogger Version firmware 100131a7, enabled Max. Number of Connections Setting to 2. So far both cloud and HA is working.
Before enabled Max. Number of Connections 2, I also had them both working for few days, and then random cloud stops.

I‘ve already done that several times. I made a port scan and port 80 is not open. The max_connections settings are changed to 2. We‘ll see.

Sadly not. I just realized, that soliscloud shows the firmware version of the stick being 100121c5. Maybe thats the difference between 4Pin and USB? The webinterface is gone since the firmwareupdate by solis this morning.

So, if we look at TCP/IP and Modbus, TCP currently only works with the S2 Wi-Fi land, so the Duel I stick. From firmware version 110-192, this has only just been released, so most sticks don't have this software yet. If you want to use Modbus TCP, I would recommend simply creating a ticket to update the stick. This will then immediately receive the correct firmware, and the Modbus TCP will work properly. A major advantage, as I just mentioned, is that you retain the Solis cloud with remote control updates. This is definitely a big advantage with the S5 inverters that are currently still being sold. This one works with Modbus TCP. It works on both Wi-Fi and LAN. You can also choose to assign a static IP to the datalogger. This isn't mandatory; it works too. Um, with a regular DHCP IP address, of course, with the risk that if it suddenly changes, you won't be able to connect via TCP. This is also compatible with all inverters, uh, from the moment you use this stick. It's also available in both four-pin and USB versions. For the S6, this is also standard with the S6 inverters, so it's really just an update. Then you can use Modbus TCP.
I think the listed Firmware is wrong because of automatic generation of the transcript, but the described facts are interesting.

yesterday received firmware upgrade for logger to 100121cf version. So far since upgrade connection wasn't lost to cloud and modbus is working.
Was a bit challenge with 100131a7, over ethernet it was loosing constantly connections to cloud, so had to enable wifi that they could make upgrade, but support is really with fast responce.

I have just ordered a S2-WL-ST yesterday.
From the verion numbers you report, I would think that you downgraded your firmware?
Did you get a binary for the update or must I contact solis for that?

You need to contact Solis support and request an update to the latest firmware. Was all done within 24 hours for me.

Ok guys, I can finally say, that both are working fine with 100121cf.
But this firmware doesn‘t seem to be standard. I had to explicitly ask for this version. As standard they would update to 100121c5.
It took a few days to get it installed.

For me it worked instantly on my Solis S6-EH3P10K-H-EU. I changed the number of allowed connected devices (from 1 to 2) in the APP for the datalogger version 100171b6.
