Simplifying branching model

Hi all,

to simplify our current branching model, we will be performing the following transition the next week:

• master branch will be renamed to stable to better reflect its contents
• 2.6.0 branch will be renamed to devel and will no longer be changed on release

Maintenance branches will be branched off if needed.
