If you could stop ruining UniGetUI UI, that would be great #4932

The UI now feels as if it were designed by a backend developer. |

The new UI is so slow and laggy, despite it seemingly looking nearly the same but with wider columns. Although I guess it's hard to tell whether it really looks the same as the classic UI, because I switched back to the previous UI immediately. I'll be turning off automatic updates for UniGetUI for now, out of fear that they'll remove the option to switch to the classic UI at some point... |

I believe part of why they switched to Avalonia is because of the Linux support they added, which I find great. |

While I don't like the new changes and am not particularly hopeful for the future, I understand the creator's predicament though. UniGetUi doesn't make him much money, if any, and he only had a few options if he wanted to continue. Either continue this as a side project, and not have the time for constant bug fixes and updates, transition to a way where he could make more money from Uniget and focus more on it, or sell it off to another company/dev team. He chose to sell it off, and while I don't think that company was the best choice, I wish Marti all the best, and I'm sad to see him go. |

I'm very disappointed with the new UI. UniGetUI finally was an app that did UI right, it looked native on Windows and at the same time slick and also developer-centric with nice touches such as showing the last console output line in fixed-width font and relying on icons to avoid visual clutter. Now it's all a mess, there are some icons far too fat now, on the other hand important text like the current installation status is now in a small font in grey and not even fixed-width anymore, a yellow-on-yellow progress bar (whose idea was that?), an unnecessarily verbose "administrator privileges" badge in a separate row, wasting even more space... Dialogs now open in their own window on a totally different area of my large monitor when before they were nicely centered, and I can't even figure out how to open the console logs of the currently running installation anymore! I'm very disappointed and I'm considering simply forking the repository at the point it was before and merging in newer functional changes manually, so the UI can stay nice and proper. EDIT: Oh my god, yes, there is a "classic mode" in the settings! That makes me instantly feel a lot better. I do think though, that there should have been a popup automatically after update asking me which UI I prefer (there was no indication that there would be a "classic mode" setting, most other apps whose companies decided to due a useless redesign did not have that). |
