Could you share the iOS logs so I can confirm, but it looks like the issue is with the model format. .tflite files are only supported for embedding models, not for inference. For inference you need:

• iOS: .task format (MediaPipe)
• macOS/Desktop: .litertlm format (LiteRT-LM)

Regarding the download error on macOS (PathNotFoundException in Caches) — this is a separate issue related to sandboxing. I'll investigate and follow up. As a workaround, try creating the Caches directory manually.

@SirDank I just tested the example app on iOS Simulator (iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18.5) — downloads work fine on my end.

Could you share the full console logs from the simulator when the download fails? I need to see the error trace to understand what's happening. Also, which simulator device/iOS version are you using?

@DenisovAV Both my iPhone 13 Pro and Simulator (17 Pro) are running on iOS 26.2, I was unable to post logs since I was unable to run the app on my simulator due to certain errors. This is a known limitation with HuggingFace CDN — it uses redirects that don't provide Content-Length in the initial response, so background_downloader can't determine the file size upfront. This means the auto-detect foreground mode (>500MB → foreground service) doesn't kick in, and Android WorkManager kills the download after ~10 minutes.

Your WiFi link speed is 2Mbps, so downloading Qwen2.5 1.5B (1.6GB) takes well over 10 minutes, which triggers the timeout.

Workaround: Use foreground: true explicitly when downloading large models:

I am experiencing this exact issue while attempting to download Gemma 4-E2B from HuggingFace on my Realme-8 RMX3085 Model.

Despite explicitly setting foreground: true to bypass the WorkManager 10-minute limit, the download still fails with a timeout. Based on my logs, the TaskRunner times out, triggering a WorkerStoppedException and cancelling the work ID.
