That is a great observation and could potentially help with reproducibility should any breaking changes in the SDK happen.
AFAIK it shouldn't be a big hassle to add this information to future releases, but figuring out which version was used for historic ones could require some detective work.

If you only care about building the firmware and checking if it's reproducible, try using the version mentioned in the building manual. The SDK mentioned there should work fine.

We already had an issue related to the SDK versioning, which resulted in suggesting to use a different SDK in step 5 of the building manual for Novacustom laptops

I may be wrong but I recall some discussion @pietrushnic insisted on having step-by-step build process rather than simply using build script. Maybe I can find it to see what the reasons were.

Sadly not every release supports that. For example 1.7.2 for Novacustom NV4x didn't have a build.sh back when the release was created, and we are feeling the consequences #1400
