The current default field metadata in FV3JEDI has multi-layer variables SMC and STC, but not SLC. In order to simplify the way our DA deals with vertical soil layers, we will be using separate variables for soill1, soill2...soilt1,soilt2 etc. These variables need to be added in FV3JEDI (or iJEDI later on) default field metadata file, with a corresponding change to the IO routine.
