Cannot read disc 3.11

I keep getting a cannot read disc error on 3.11 ps2 slim 75000u. My ps2 can read a south park season 1 disc and ps2 games just fine, but a a dvd copy of now you see me now you don't (just what i had on hand near my ps2) can't both the movie and the free dvd boot can be read my pcs Blu-ray drive and I've made discs with imgburn and cdburnerxp at 4x speed(the lowest speed my drive can write at). Just trying to figure out what my options are while hopefully making less coasters. Burned onto Verbatim Thermal Printable DVD-R's
