Disc could not be read

Tried some games from the supported list and couldn't get any to work. Movies and normal PS2 games all work flawlessly. I tried burning "All PS2 Slims - English language.iso" twice at 4x and 8x, and both had the same unreadable issue. I followed the tutorial I linked above to the word. I used FRDVDB ESR patcher with 3.10_3.11_Hybrid for three games and one of the freedvdboot discs. I tried changing the settings to fast, smooth, and diagnosis on. I tried both ImgBurn and UltraISO at differing speeds to no avail. On my phat ps2, the discs gave disc read error. Is it possible that my USB optical burner is the reason? I tried burning a fourth game with an integrated optical drive, and it still gave the same error as the last.

Any suggestions?

I have a slim ps2 with the save dvd driver version

save issue, although i didn't do as much as the op did

I noticed that the disc drive has similar issues when it tries to read Rogue Galaxy except that it eventually reads that game
