"Unable to read disc" 3.11U VERY frustrating issue #375

Real DVD movie: Yes, my laser is fine
DVD player version: 3.11U
ISO you tried: All PS2 Slims, 3.11 only, 3.11+3.10 hybrid, 3.11EU, basically every one of them
Type of DVD: DVD-R
Result when launching disc: Black screen or "Unable to read disc"
Trust me when I say I have tried ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. I unplugged my controller, unplugged my MC, tried burning with IMGB & CDBurner (both with 1x speed & finalizing disc option), and my console was already in English long before I had ever received it. EVERYTHING. NOTHING WORKS!!
This is ESPECIALLY FRUSTRATING because I know FOR A FACT this console can run FDVDB because I JUST HAD IT THIS PAST WEEKEND. I installed FMCB with FDVDB perfectly fine last Friday but in my poor foresight, thought I was too good for it and wanted to burn my game backups via ESR with an unmodded PS2 (yes, I know, I am strange and difficult). I deleted the FMCB files off my memory card and here we are. Completely unable to do what I had just done and know for a fact that it works.
Maybe that was the issue? I don't know. All I know is that it's late and I'm tired and I never wanna see a damn disc drive ever again. Please help with whatever suggestions. I am desperate.
