Description
Describe the bug
This morning, I discovered via the BOINCstats page that one of my clients had not reported in since November. 24th. The error message when I click Synchronize was: "the URL you supplied is not that of a BOINC-based account manager".
Steps to reproduce
Click Synchronize (to force an update).
Expected behavior
So I:
- Confirmed I could reach the BOINCstats page (https://bam.boincstats.com/) and login to the BOINCstats page directly (credentials were correct, no DNS issues, etc.)
- Confirmed a second client (at a different location/network) that I had also updated to 8.2.8 was still connecting to BOINCstats BAM! properly
- Told the client in question to stop using BOINCstats BAM! manager and tried to re-add it to refresh the setup. Same error.
- Completely uninstalled BOINC from the client in question and re-installed 8.2.8. Same error.
Each time, the only message in the client log was "Contacting account manager at https://bam.boincstats.com/
". (I knew from the other working client the next message should have been a response starting with "Account manager: BAM! User: xxxx, brian163".)
At that point I was starting to pull out my hair a bit until I noticed that the installer file I had for 8.2.8 was *dated November 24th. That seemed to be too much of a coincidence. So I uninstalled the 8.2.8 client completely again and went back to the last version I had been running prior to that date, which I believe was 8.2.5.
Installed 8.2.5, went to add a manager, selected BOINCstats BAM!. This time, the initial connect took a minute or two (so I knew something had changed), and then it prompted me for credentials. It logged in and attached successfully.

No response
System information
macOS 26.2
Additional context
I clearly can't state that 8.2.8's BAM! connection is broken completely because it is working on another client. But I have absolutely no idea why it wouldn't work on my main client. Right now I'm just happy it is working again. But I don't like to be behind on versions and I considered trying to install 8.2.8 again to see what would happen. But I thought it best to report this here first to see if there are any diagnostics I could capture before or after the 8.2.8 install to help get to the root cause of the problem?
