Currently you can't call functions which expect a wave parameter. We would need support for passing in strings with an absolute path referencing global waves (easy, we already do that for DFREF). And probably also allow passing in free waves, serialized as JSON.
FetchWaveFromDataFolder can be used to convert a DFREF and wavename to a wave reference.
